The Joy of Gyp

I recently had some very exciting news.... I will be getting married!  It was a big surprise, but something I am incredibly excited about and I'm sure will dominate my posts over the coming months.

We will be having a winter wedding so any ideas or experiences are much welcome, but my initial question is how do people feel about gypsophila in the winter?

I've only really discovered gypsophila since getting engaged but it's so pretty and ethereal that I think it could be the one.  I think it would look perfect on the pew end in the church, when combined with roses it can make an idyllic centrepiece and bouquets.

This table centrepiece is gorgeous!

This wedding bouquet is beautiful, and simple, pure gypsophila for the 2 bridesmaids would be lovely!

Final questions - does anyone know if it's in season in November?  and do people think it will dry well?

And a few if onlys...

If only I was getting married outside
and

If only I was having little flowergirls!

Choccy Woccy Doo Dah

If you can't blog about chocolate at Easter then when can you?!  This post is dedicated to Choccy Woccy Doo Dah - the most amazing chocolate shop in the world.  It's not really a shop, it's a showroom of delight and creativity.  You can find this cavern of chocolate deliciousness in Brighton, and I've just seen that they have a shop in London too, just off Carnaby Street.

In Brighton they have Boudoir too where you can sample huge slices of chocolate cakes and the richest hot chocolate in the world - be prepared to share!

The World's most original cake

Their Easter eggs are just good and I've seen they have a blog too.

Top 5 for Friday

Well, it might as well be Friday here in the UK!  I've decided that every week I will blog about my Top 5 for that week on a Friday.  Whether it be ideas, plans, jokes, magazines, whatever, I will pick a my Top 5 for Friday.

As it's a Bank Holiday weekend this week I'm going to give you my Top 5 places to visit this weekend.  I live in Southampton so my Top 5 are all close enough to visit for a day.

1. Walk the Walls

Follow these signs and take in the city's amazing history.  I did this a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and it only takes a few hours but it reveals so much about the city and is a really good tour of the more beautfiul parts of town.  This would also be fab as a bar crawl!

2. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

This is a must! Despite my expectations this was one of the most interesting places I've been since I moved to Southampton.  The ticket is fab too as there's too much to do in one day so it allows you to return as many times as you like in a year.  You will learn so much!

3. Jane Austen's House

If you are looking for a romantic day out this place is perfect.  I went there for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was idyllic.  Lots of information about Jane and her family, but better still is the beautiful garden and quaint village of Chawton.  Take a picnic!

4. Walk the Rufus Stone

With the New Forest at your disposal the world is your oyster, but my reccomendation is a long walk to/from the Rufus Stone.  Cross streams and a golf course in your hunt for the historic place whereKing William III was fatally wounded and treat yourself to a pub lunch!  Be careful as you walk as your bound to come across some of the famous New Forest Ponies.

5. Brownsea Island

I'll have to fill you in on this one when I'm back, as this is where I'm heading for my Bank Holiday Weekend!

Whatever you're doing enjoy!

Keep on running

This poster pretty much sums up my relationship with running at the moment!  I am trying so hard to get back into it after running a gruelling half marathon last year (something I will not be repeating).  I 'enjoyed' running it, more the sense of achievement once we'd finished, but the last 3 miles were disastrous! And we raised over £600 for Dementia UK which is a fantastic cause that's very close to my heart.

Pre-race excitement!

But the winter months have been a struggle.  However, I've discovered a brilliant, free running club - Sweatshop Running Community - which organises weekly 5, 6 and 7km runs so you can progress.  And I have a fantastic running buddy who really does keep me going.

The plan is to sign up for a 10km in May/June time, run it in an hour and catch the running bug again!  Any suggestions for runs would be much appreciated, and I'll keep you updated on my progress!

Wall sticker genius

I love it when you find something really simple but really effective when flicking through a magazine.  I found this fabulous use of a wall sticker in Architecktur & Wohnen and just love it!

I've seen a lot of wall stickers that don't work, and far too many trees, but this really does - I will keeping my eyes peeled for more.

Dress Dreams

One of my most recent findings is this gorgeous dress from Oasis which has to be my favourite shop at the moment.

But, I'm worried!  I gave up shopping for Lent which, until I saw this dress had been relatively easy, but now temptation is following me everywhere I go!  It's just too perfect, for work, for play, for summer BBQs and everyone is snapping it up.  The moral of story is don't browse shops online when you can;t buy anything (and you have an Oasis gift voucher in your purse!).
